Rhymesayers has got a lot of good hip hop to offer. The other day I blogged about P.O.S., who is on their label, and today I just gotta tell y’all about Brother Ali. He is a muslim rapper whose religion heavily influences his lyrics. I’m not religious, but I respect his ability to do what he does and make it sound badass. This track has such a good baseline that you can’t help but bob your head. His new EP, The Truth is Here, just dropped and I highly reccomend it.
Have a watch or two:

HOLY SHIT. MARTIN SCORSESE IS DOING A HORROR MOVIE. It’s called Shutter Island and it’s listed as a ‘drama’, but that trailer isn’t fooling anyone. That is definitely a psychological thriller, at least. Check out Leo DiCaprio, eh? He’s actually useful in the world of film. I think Scorsese has taken a shine to him and he could actually be a good actor (mind you, he’s had spots of greatness in his career). The special effects in the trailer seem to be pretty slim but beautiful. When the women disintegrates in his arms it reminded me of dream sequences from the Max Payne and F.E.A.R. games. Maybe Scorsese is a hardcore gamer inbetween making stellar pictures? I could probably still pwn him at CounterStrike.
Since it’s impossible to imbed this video on my page, head over to the official website to check it out. And bring a blankey, it’s scaaaary.
P.O.S. is the most exciting person in hip hop, although you may not have heard of him. Or maybe you have? He was on MTV2, after all. Just get cable already! His album, Never Better, is a sweet blend of conscious lyrics and drum fills, and in this clip he shows that he can do more than write terrific rhymes: he can also do grunge. His singing voice is actually pretty good considering it’s not his primary vocal ability. It’s much better than Kanye’s, as apparent with his distain for auto-tune.
Check it out, girlfriend!
So, it’s been far too long since I’ve touched this whole thing. Discouraged by the weight of my own procrastination, I was.
Regardless, I’ve got a whole bucketload of good stuff to share now! I’ll try to spread it out but ooh baby am I excited.
I’ll take this time to plug two things I like: The Superfantastics, and myself! I have some videos uploaded on YouTube wherein this Halifax duo rocks a small Fredericton art center. Think of them as a loosened-up and young Maritimer version of The White Stripes. Also minus the fame and the ambiguous relationship between them. Are Jack and Meg siblings? Ex-s? That’s probably been explained but in my mind it’s like kissin’ cousins.
Anyway!

Since I have been working at the library pretty much straight for the month passed, it has given me a golden opportunity to read a lot of completely irreverent things on the internet. CHUD is one such irreverency. It’s all about upcoming movies, tv shows, comics and other disturbingly nerdy things that I am into. They are fairly swift at reviewing new movies as they come out, and there’s even a discussion forum (if you’re into that kind of thing).
Check them out! CHUD

Listen, guys: I gotta come clean. I’ve been into this blog for a while, and it’s not fair for me to keep it to myself. Usually I scan through, read a couple things, all that– and more often than not I grab their remixes. They’re a dance/electro/whathaveyou blog who must throw some great parties. For them, Sunday screams “dance like mad!” and they’ve come up with ‘Remix Sunday’, where they upload .rars of (well!!!) remixed tunes, and they remain faithful regardless of the issues thrown at them by Google (you can read more about that here). On top of that, they even dedicate Wednesdays to showing you what songs are sampled by your favourite artists. The two coolest ones I read were the Outkast article and the RJD2 one. It’s like getting the schematics of an engine, only the individual parts are pretty damn fun to listen to! As you can see, car analogies aren’t my best!
Anyway, I’m into them, and so you should be, too. Below is just a taste of why:
Radiohead – Reckoner (Rune RK Remadoodle)
Usher Ft. Young Jeezy – Love in this Club (Sta Remix)
You can check out the site right here as well.
Enjoy!

Good day, Internet! I’m your humble narrator, Matt, and I’ll be taking you on a magnificent journey through irreverency. So, if you could please just settle in and, uh, ma’am if you could keep your son from touching that? Ah, great, thank you. Now that we’re all ready, let’s get started.
Before I get ahead of myself here, I’d just like to say that I’m absolutely astonished at how easy it is to make a blog these days. I mean, I’ve blogged before (who hasn’t, you know what I’m saying?), but I have to say that this site has really got it going on. Well played, WordPress– you had me at ‘hello’.
And, uh, now I guess I’ll, er… take my leave and come back tommorow with something interesting to say! Yeah!
